How to Get and Maintain a Healthy Lawn : The health of a lawn says a lot about someone’s home. Because of this, a whole market has emerged to help people out with it. But in all honesty there is no need for expensive lawn technicians to keep a well-groomed one. Maintaining a good-looking lawn is a bit tricky, but with a little help, anyone can do it.
Mowing the right way
For maintaining a nice looking patch of green, everyone needs a good lawn mower or at least a string trimmer. Your need a String trimmer you can read full review click here. During the years first mowing the target is one inch in height one inch height, so more sun can reach the crown of the grass. This height should be raised at around twice the size by summer, when shading is often more important than the sheer quantity of sunlight. When adjusting the height, don’t forget to add a quarter of an inch to it, as that is usually the height from which the bottom of the mower is located from the hard surface. Don’t forget to sharpen the blade of the mower every once in awhile. A well cut lawn needs fewer nutrients and is less susceptible to diseases than one that was shredded with a dull bladed one.
A good habit is to leave the mowed grass blades on the lawn. This is a natural nutrient and it disappears rather quickly. Many make the mistake to rake it up and throw it away, as they find the look rather unpleasing. But all of that will decompose quickly and it will also keep the ground fairly hydrated.
Water is the backbone of life
Like every living things, lawns need water as well. And not a small amount either. People tend to make the mistake of buying small and easily installable sprinklers and turn them on every once in awhile, when they think that the lawn needs it. These actions will only water the surface of the lawn and it will never reach the root of the grass. A healthy lawn requires around two inches of water every week. The best time to let the sprinklers on, is usually in the morning, as far less water will evaporate this way. Depending how large capacity these sprinklers are, they should be on between half to two hours a day, three to five days a week.
Fertilizers and weed killers
The best way to prevent weed from emerging is to have a high quality lawn all the time. Using fertilizers is often necessary, and the type and quantity is highly dependent on the region’s geography. But even so, weeds can pop up even with the best care.To prevent their overpopulation, they need to be attacked with weed killers during spring. The more they are allowed to grow, the harder it will become to get rid of them. If a good mixture of early fertilization and appliance of weed killers is used, than most of it will be exterminated by May and they won’t be a nuisance for the rest of the year. For best results, use a lawn spreader for fertilizer that will be spread evenly over the surface of the lawn and save your time.
Taking all these steps will make sure that the lawn will stay healthy and that it will continue to be a highly positive aspect of a home.
